  • Title: Hair & Fashion

Hair is like an accessory to fashion. You can change it up and wear it in differently styles with different colors and textures. I have always loved Japanese culture and fashion. I first became acquainted with ヴィジュアル系, and from that it evolved into a general, but extreme love for fashion of all kinds. I think my exposure to ヴィジュアル系 also allowed me to be more accepting to varieties of colors and trends. Cross-dressing was also a ~normal~ term to me, whereas some of my friends found it odd. I do not think any of these terms should even be exaggerated because they are what they are and just as normal to any other.

I found myself on Scrapture for a long period of time. It is simple a Japanese fashion-based website with full-body shots of models on the streets of Japan. There are also close-up shots to show the detail of the outfit and you can give fast ratings out of 5 hearts. I love how the page is also "never-ending" as you just simple keep scrolling instead of clicking a 'next page' button and waiting for pictures to load.

Beyond this introductory is not much written content. I just decided to explore a few websites I found and reference them here to my liking. Perhaps you will find something you like as well.

Harajuku, Tokyo - I love the clash of cutesy and rough. The collaboration of different strings and necklaces around the neck give it a messy look to easily accompany the "rough" part of the outfit.

[Mai] Harajuku, Tokyo, spring 2011 - I like this outfit overall because it is very simple and snug for a cold autumn day or even winter day. The colors fit one another nicely and the texture are also similar.

[Mau] Harajuku, Tokyo - One of my favorite looks. I tend to deck out in all-black so this outfit is very relate-able. My favorite part about this outfit are the stockings and rocking platforms.

[milkylee] Harajuku, Tokyo - This is a really simple outfit that can be worn on the lazy or stylish days. The matching light blue denim jacket with light blue sneakers show effort. while the rest of the outfit is very simple and easy to the eyes.

[si oux] Harajuku, Tokyo - Even though this is not something I would ever personally wear, I decided to show this outfit because of the interesting clash of colors and image it reminds me of. I am mostly attracted to the upper portion, with the pink hair against blue dress and neon green cardigan. It seems very doll-like, but as you focus on the lower portion, which is white stockings and grey skull knee socks with spiked wedges, you realize it is cleverly matched with the eye make-up.

[si oux] Shibuya - Another outfit by si oux, where the attention is initially pulled towards the hair again. This shade of red is especially appealing and matching with the shades of black and white. These shades can be very boring if they aren't worn with many layers or textures, which is why the stockings are very helpful.

[Yasutoshi Ezumi] aw 2011 - I was thinking of not displaying this photo, but chose otherwise. Again, this is another piece I would never dress in but the hair reminded me of different artists I've seen sporting that style.

[Yoko] Osaka - I love everything about this outfit. The hair is a brilliant orange shade with streaks of white which adds attraction to an all-black outfit. The love the texture of the jacket she is wearing and how comfortable it looks. The stockings are also interesting because they become opaque about mid-thigh length. I  absolutely love the wedges the most. The spikes make it look less plain, as well as the straps that add texture.
